Three Books - A Witch, A Spy, and a Teenager Under a Family Curse

This is a light, fast read by Kelly McClymer. Prudence is very popular at Beverly Hills High and is looking forward to be head cheerleader. But her family moves to Salem, Massachusetts, because guess what? Prudence and her brother are half-mortal, half-witch. At school in Salem, Prudence once an A student, now struggles in Witchcraft 101.

This fun book is part of a series.

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter is another fun-to-read book with maybe a bit more substance. Cammie is a tudent at the Gallaghet Academy for Exceptional Young Women, a school which teaches advanced martial arts and the latest in chemical warfare in science. Gallagher Academy is a school for spies-in-training!
Cammie is fluent in 14 languages, can tap a phone and hack a computer, but when she falls for a typical boy, has no idea how to get to know him.

I have heard that this will be made into a movie, so read the book now! This is also book one in a series.

Impossible
by Nancy Werlin is the most sophisticated and complex of these three novels. When Lucy is 17, she discovers that the women in her family have been cursed, and upon the birth of their first child, will descend into madness. Indeed, Lucy has met her birth mother who is now homeless and a baglady who sometimes shows up in Lucy's life singing the folk song "Scarborough Fair." Lucy is date-raped on the night of her prom and must discover how to end this curse before she gives birth.

I would recommend this book for more mature readers who like to figure out the "puzzle" as they read.
