Eli has always followed his twin brother Eddy. Eddy was more popular, smarter, and nicer. But Eli and Eddy are separated when their father, to escape a nuclear attack, whisks the family away to a compound deep in the earth away from civilization. Eddy and his grandmother don't make it to safety, and the entire family thinks they must have died in the nuclear explosion.
Dad has planned well; they have everything they need in the compound - food, water, a gym that includes a full basketball court, a gourmet kitchen and more - even a science lab. After six years, the food becomes rancid, but Dad also has a plan for that - quite a diabolical plan.
As you can tell, everything is not as it seems in the compound and Eli slowly begins to realize that his Dad is insane and that he and his family are trapped in the compound with no way out.
This book kept me rivited and reading far later into the night than I wanted. I have never read such a diabolical plan in a YA book.
Really good book!!
