Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

What a great book to read right before Christmas! Lily leaves a red notebook full of dares at the Strand bookstore (a real bookstore in New York, with a purported 18 miles of books) the week before Christmas, hoping that a cute boy will come along and pick it up. Dash comes across the book, and accepts the challenge.

Lily and Dash leave the notebook in many unusual places in New York City, so the reader ends up experiencing Christmas in the city, complete with hoards of crowds at FOA Schwartz, crowd-crushing mobs at Macy's, and finally the movie Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. Through it all, Dash and Lily try to make each dare more creative and perhaps dangerous.

Dash and Lily do meet. Unfortunately, Lily has gone to a club to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday, and after tasting everyone's drinks isn't feeling very well.

Will Dash still be interested in Lily or will he think she is just a party girl? This is a lively, funny  book to read - just right for the holidays, or really, any time!
