Good Sports is a collection of five inspirational stories about five baseball players: Babe Ruth, Jimmy Piersall, Ron LeFlore, Joe Torre, and Torii Hunter. All five players experienced different kinds of hardships.
Babe Ruth's parents had their son judged "out of control" and sent him to a special school for boys. Jimmy Piersall grew up with a mother who had a mental illness, and when he was in his twenties, became mentally ill himself. Joe Torre grew up with an abusive father.
All five stories were very interesting and inspirational. Written in rather simplistic language, this book should appeal to all baseball fans from upper elementary through high school.
